Looking for a good base figure for Hawkmen...
« on: May 24, 2018, 01:27:25 PM »
I know that this sounds more like e fantasy or sci-fi topic but I am assuming that the knowledge base here would be more appropriate.

I am looking for some good base figures for Flash Gordon Hawkmen...

I have the wings sussed and am not worried about the head as that can be sculpted and cast up.
What I am trying to find is a range that may look similar to the bodies in the picture.
Gladiators, Greeks, something else.

In 28mm scale but 'Heroic 28' would not be bad.

Any suggestions?

Might Victrix nude gauls be the best bet? - plastic (so easy to pose and convert) plus *very* scantily clad - you would have to sculpt the fur skirts though...

Thanks for the suggestions, chaps.
Much appreciated.
 :D

I think that I am going to opt for the nekkid Gauls as they could form the basis of of a hell of a lot of conversions.
Especially for my OGAM Celts when I get around to them.

Sumerians foundry   ;)

Oh!
That is quite uncanny.
And very tempting as it would cut down the conversion work somewhat....hmmm.......

Can I ask how you have the wings sussed?
He that trades Liberty for Security will soon find that he has neither.

You don't need to do elaborate conversions.  These Hawkmen are now available from Cold War Miniatures http://www.cold-war.co.uk/princes-of-the-universe.html
If I didn't have a lot of the old Dick Garrison ones I'd use these.
All the best,
George.
