Playmobil Galley for 28mm - conversion work
« on: May 26, 2018, 05:30:33 PM »

As i have started a new page to my Gang of rome topic "In the street of Rome" about a galley's conversion, i create that one for the LAFers who don't see it and could be interested by a Playmobil Galley conversion work for 28mm   ;)

so lets start :

1 - Find the boat :

cheap because uncomplete and full of calcarous marks, so cost me 5 euros only .

2 - See if the Playmobil scale is fitted for 28mm

3 - Start the conversion work

Delete all the playmobil details that we don't need for our 28mm

and take off all the parts to make easier the work.

more to follow

I'll be following your progress.  I bought one of these at the swap meet years ago and have done nothing with it.  I look forward to watching you solve all the repurposing-for- 28mm problems.

Watching this with interest.  However I rather liked the prow and stern sections.  Intrigued as to what you are going to replace them with.

i'll keep them but with a little work......

4 Start the work on the prow then

It' easy with wood cocktail shakers (better than ice cream stick)   ;)

and the details shot :

Enjoy

Nice idea to use the stirrers. Looking forward to seeing this come together.

Ah! "stirrers", thank you for the good word for this cocktail stick  ;)

5 - Work on the deck

Waiting the prow drying, i start the work on the deck.

Remove the original deck trap. It's very easy because the playmobil's plastic is a very good one. I cut it off with a little trowel and a hammer.
(pass the sharpened 's trowel under the piece to remove it).

The original great iron grille is cut into 2 pieces.

Sculpted balsa wood is use to fil the gap and received the new iron grilles for the trap.

and detail on the deck trap

 ;)

This looks promising. First the Playmobil colosseum and now this.. I may have to raid a toystore soon :)

And coffee stirrers have become my primary source for wood for terrain. It started with a little pilfering at the local coffee franchise, then I ordered a 1000 stick from China.
