Probably not the most accurate, but neither are the other options available.

Natal native infantry or Zulu with muskets, no headdress?

Think more native African dress, less Arab or Western?

Blue Moon Darkest Africa (18mm).

Even less suitable than they are for Zanzibaris, I'm afraid (just my opinion). Some Ruga Ruga adopted Arab dress, but they never really looked quite like that.

I know you're into Ashanti, I think whatever you use for them would be a better fit (perhaps with the odd greenstuff turban here and there). Mixing them with musket-armed Zulus, as mentioned above, is a good idea.

I've never actually seen pics of anyone's 15mm NNC with rifles/muskets.

if they have little Zulu decor like arm and anklet stuff, they should do great.

NOW to find pics of various NNC figs....

nope. they make nice askaris, fez and turbanned, coat and shirtless. one or two would work, but too uniform and orderly for rugga.

And for inexplicable reasons, no musket armed tribesmen.

looks like hunting and picking individuals from various lines is the way to go. need to pursue my NNC idea

Really couldn't comment, Smokes. You've better eyes than me if you can make anything out of that. I can see a guy with a bow, though. That's good for early Ruga Ruga (1860s), lots of them had bows to begin with.

I think you should do whatever suits you, if I'm honest.
