My army (53rd Pa ACW Union)

Hi
I represent you my army of the ACW
All in the process of painting, so I have for you and right now the 53rd Pa of the Union in the battle of Fredriksburg. The size is 28 mm. Banners are historical !!!
I will look forward to the feedback and advice - how can I do better my subsequent military detachments. And how to improve the skill of the artist.

Your artistic medium is sculpting, you are far beyond my capabilities, I don't think I can show you anything to improve that!
It's great to to me that you also like to paint and make a wargames army.
I am not a great painter, i only paint to wargames standard myself. But I would put some shade and highlight in the greatcoats to bring out the detail.
And the stars and bars flag looks somewhat muted and dulled, it should be more red?

I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

Great job Dmitry! Hey these chaps don't look as keen to start fighting as the Union troops, I wonder why
.
I like the little touches of colour on the blanket rolls.
You might want to touch up the edges of your flag with paint, the white paper is showing.

For your Union troops: Light seems to fall very evenly on their winter coats, maybe you need to put some highlights/darkening here and there. For their flags: Let's suppose that the muted colors show that the flags are battle seasoned, then your gold fringe should not be so shiny...
I like the tattered look of your Rebels and Cleburne is a top sculpt! Cheers!

Irish.
Work in progress. These are ready-made figures, but not the entire regiment.

Nice paintjob and lovely action poses!
I like most the mounted figure, the officer on foot and the drummer!
Keep them coming! Cheers!

I really want critics. How did you like my painting
How is the ground on the ground ?? It looks like an autumn forest or on the floor in the carpentry shop
?

"How is the ground on the ground"? Well, let's call it "texturing the bases" as in how does the texture - with color as part of the texture - on the bases work? I'd say the basing is your "weak link" right now. Kind of looks like sawdust so, yes, a bit like the interior of a workshop - but an easy fix (in a moment). Personally, I like my bases to have a standard look across all units. This helps to "unify" the whole and allow varying painting styles to mix better, and the same standard for both sides.
If you are going for the Eastern portion of the United States, I think I'd choose greener over yellow or brown but include both if you want an autumn look. If you were doing autumn in my part of the country, California, then what we call "California blonde" will work. But the east gets a lot more rainfall so should be generally greener.
If you don't want to rebase simply use an acrylic paint to brush over everything and then add smaller grains of texture (think model railroad flock if you can afford it) and then dry brush on top of that. I like the formula of a dark brown base coat with flock sprinkled on while wet - the paint is the adhesive that holds it in place - using a mixed green/yellow/tan look. And then a yellow-green highlight dry brushed on.
I do recommend a spray on seal coat (matte, non-yellowing, as odor free as you can find) before texturing the bases - easier to clean up any mistakes where you get paint on the figures. When dry, then hit with a final coat of a matte spray like Testor's Dullcote.
However you settle on, a unified basing scheme really pulls an army together very nicely. Some in the larger scales do use some sort of "goop" to blend the model bases better before texturing their bases. I work in smaller scales so skip this part and it might be a challenge given how close you are basing your figures together but it does look better in the end, not strictly necessary.
Good luck and good work so far.
