Base of Orange Brown (981), wash with GW Argax Earthshade, layer back up with the Orange Brown gradually lightened with Light Orange (911) to pure light orange as edge highlight on the coat and multiple layers on sash to get a brighter orange.

Great painting and colours!
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

Really nice work!  I just did Essex's orange coats myself.  Fun to paint orange coats as it is not that common.

They look great. Love these Bicorne figures by Nick Collier. (I have a lot of them!)

The first metal wargames figures I ever bought were by Hinchliffe - an officer, drummer and three musketeers in morions. 9p each. I painted them in orange coats for the Earl of Essex’s regiment. That was in, oooh... 1975?  ;)

So I have a soft spot for these.

I was obviously a very young child at the time...  :D

Have to love Orange coats or facings - I do anyway. Your figure look superb!

Here are a couple of pics of my Lord Essex's Regiment of Foote for playing DBA-HX.

Look forward to seeing more of your efforts!
