Making Lumber Piles for scatter terrain.
« on: May 30, 2018, 11:41:15 AM »
Just made a batch of scatter terrain for my Beaverlick Falls table (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=105875.0)

Very quick and easy to make.  More details at https://beaverlickfalls.blogspot.com for those that want to give it a go.

Good tutorial and a good blog although it looks a little stark being just black. Some sort of period colour background would work better I think.

Very nicely done.  One could use fewer layers of stringers (bearers) with board on board for several layers and still be appropriate.  A matter of tastes, I suppose - or perhaps a 'cheat' to get higher stacks for less material.

Just wear gloves when unstacking or you'll get all that pitch on your hands or nasty splinters!  :D

I tried that on a few prototypes and came to the conclusion I like them with the stringers in-between each layer, but it would save time not to.  :)

I think the stringers shout ‘hand made’ rather than ‘cast’, which is the story of your project.

I agree with Silent Invader's comment.  Also, it isn't wrong to have the stringers like that, very appropriate for drying lumber.  But - having stacked the stuff - a LOT of extra work in the 'real' world.

Love the way you gave the stacks variety.  I think I'll engage in the sincerest of flattery.

Looks beutifull, the amount of bearers is appropiate for lumber located at a lumber mill or still needs to be further dried before it can be used.
