Beating Up Quarters - a Pikeman's Lament report
« on: May 30, 2018, 05:46:37 PM »
I set up a quick game of The Pikeman's Lament for a friend who was visiting last night. WE played the Beating Up Quarters scenario.

A full report of the action (with loads more pictures) can be found on my blog:

http://saskminigamer.blogspot.com/2018/05/my-friend-bob-from-edmonton-was-in-town.html

Here are a few pics of the action...

Initial dispositions with the attacking Scots Government forces approaching the Royalists encampment in the dark...

As the attackers approached in the predawn light the highlanders and Irish mercenaries came pouring ou too their quarters - it almost seemed as if the ambushers were being ambushed.

Quick charges from the Government Horse carried off two units of clansmen on the next turn!

On the other side of the village the remaining unit of clansmen were busy trying to see off the Government infantry!

The Government Horse then rounded on the Irish mercenary pike and rode them down!

Final showdown between the respective commanders units - Gallopers versus a Forlorn Hope in the middle of the encampment!

check out the blog to see how it all went down...

That's a great battle report and a nice looking game. I need to get some more games of TPL in, I haven't played them for a while.

Great report Tim!

I am reminded of The Battle of Stoke Lane scenario from English Civil War Campaign Scenarios, Vol 1 (Partisan press). An actual battle that, at a 1:2 figure scale, only involves 255 figures. Sure, that would be a huge Pikeman's Lament game but still...  :D
