Rogue Star Solo?
« on: June 02, 2018, 03:49:25 PM »

I'm currently in a spell where I'm without wargaming opponents, and I was wondering what other people were doing for solitaire play in Rogue Stars.

More specifically, I've been eyeing the Sellswords and Spellslingers ruleset and - given its superficial similarities to Rogue Stars - was wondering if anyone has tried and had any luck with incorporating the S&S ai mechanics with Rogue Stars.  Does anyone have any stories or insights to share?

Doing a bit of thread necromancy.

I'm actually working on a sci-fi variant of Sellswords using some Rogue Stars bits. Should get something out by the end of the month

Figured it would peak somebody's interest.

Big things to change
1. Shooting is now default, needs to be less deadly (many mooks shooting ineffectually is what I am aiming for)
2. Many Rogue Stars XP values are a bit different, need to reconcile that
3. Magic and psionics need to combined
4. Need a new deck of cards (I have a custom Sellswords one anyway).

Not the only person doing it, here's a great Star Wars Sellswords thread https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=129795

You, sir, are not allowed to attempt a takeover of the solar system until your octopus sobers up.

Made the draft back today. Am on vacation, home tomorrow to test these cards on my printer (and then cut them out with my Silhouette Cameo 4 cnc cutter).

Thinking I'll do different PCB colors for the different types of cards.

I've been dealing with screen-induced vertigo the past few weeks, so work slowed down quite a lot. But that is mostly sorted now, so will be getting a draft finished and off to the Andrea Sfiligoi soon

I get some draft cards finished in Inkscape - printed them on heavy card and cut them on my Silhouette Cameo 4 (cnc cutter).

I have a mostly complete draft now, am going to be doing some private playtesting initially, then possibly wider.

Had our first playtest today. Was a great deal of fun - it took a few hours to figure out the shooting rules that made sense, were simple and also followed the spirit of Sellswords. And also didn't kill everybody.

Today's fight was pretty simple - Sean and I each had around 200 points faced up against some zombies and three (later 4) enemy shooters. We played around the rules for dumb vs smart enemies - those'll need some review and refinement.

Lots of work left to do to integrate the psionic rules from Rogue Stars and fully test out some monsters.
