Spanish Napoleonic table PIC HEAVY
« on: June 07, 2018, 05:06:56 AM »
My terrain building focus for 2018 has been Spanish Napoleonic and Italy WW2, a happy medium as I can use the terrain I've made for two of my favourite periods. Add into the mix my growing SCW collection and it was an easy choice.

I thought I'd share some pics of what I've made so far. No battle reports though I'm afraid.

Everything is scratch built. The mats, trees, vinyards, walls and bulldings. The only thing not are a few of the statues/ fountains which were 3D prints mostly from actual scans of the real thing in Spain/ Italy. The buildings are all resin, moulded from my own masters. I have about 20 different moulds  so variation is almost infinite. The mats actually are my Northern Europe mats I made for a friend but I think still work well for a greener part of Spain or Portugal. My semi arid mat will be coming along soon. I have inset to the buildings my own designed and 3D printed windows, doors and balconies (of which I have about a dozen variants). These aren't totally finished to be honest as I still have my courtyard gardens and final touches to do. And figures to base! I'll pop some pics of a WW2 layout with many of the same pieces in the other thread soonish.

Enjoy.

Up to your usual standard, Lev, good to see.

What do you use for Pantile Roofing?

Thanks. Tiles all scratchmade like the rest of the buildings. I designed the tiles in CAD then 3d printed, moulded and cast in resin. They're based on images of the Roman style barrel tiles you see everywhere over there. I still need to add my chimneys to the roofs and these will be nice easy lift-up points.

Wow! Great display! There is a lot of effort in that table! It must be a pleasure to play in a table so well set.

Everything is scratch built! Plus your 3D printing where needed, you have created terrain of unbelievable beauty! Congrats! Thanks for sharing!

The terrain and figures are lovely of course, but what I really like is how you've managed to take the photos from a 1st person perspective, right down at the action level. How do you manage to get the camera so low, and still focus Is it a special camera ?
You could illustrate a book with those photos they are so good.

Most 'real' cameras have a Macro setting for that (usually marked with a 'tulip' icon)

Thanks.

I did used to use my DSLR camera but I love my phone for taking shots. I just use my iPhone and drop it down low onto the table. If you want 'eye level' for 28mm just turn it upside down so the camera part is nearest the table. You get a few dud pics but you can put it inside buildings etc. Job done.
