Surplus suppression
« on: August 17, 2018, 12:34:37 AM »
We've been playing some VD lately and really enjoying it. We have a similar question to one answered in a previous post but the situation is slightly different. Hoping you can clarify.

A five man unit with Dedicated has six suppression markers (it's not shaken until it gets 10). It is shot at and takes three casualties (so would usually gain four suppression). With only two men left, four suppression is enough to shake them.

Do they?:

A. Gain no more suppression markers and become shaken with the existing six suppression in place?

B. Shed the surplus existing suppression markers so they are shaken with four suppression markers remaining.

C. Something else.

I guess the thrust of the question is that we know you don't add surplus suppression but what happens to existing markers when a reduction in unit size makes some of the existing markers surplus?

Thanks in advance.

Quote from P.11
4.1 "Units are Shaken once they have received a number of Suppression Marker equal to the number of current models in the unit."
4.1.1 "Check to see if a unit is Shaken after it receives any Suppression Markers (either from an Assault, Close Combat or Shoot Action). You should completely resolve the attacking unit’s action before checking to see if the target unit breaks.
Do not add any additional Suppression Markers on a unit after it is Shaken, you should also mark it in some way to show that it is Shaken."
4.1.3 "Shaken units may only have as many Suppression Markers as models (or HPs); they do not receive any additional Suppression Marker after they have been shaken and before they regroup."

So in your example the unit becomes Shaken, the surplus markers are not placed.
