Not-USCM Models in 15 mm?
« on: June 10, 2018, 01:39:50 AM »
As per headline: Are there some passable 15 mm Sci-Fi models that resembles USCM-soldiers (Aliens movie)?

There's a Sci-Fi version of Sellswords & Spellslingers in the making, and I have a bunch of small 'Space Demons' from Khurasan, and 'Alien Creatures'  from Pendraken, so I would like to make a small squad of Colonial Marines to fight them!
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

Defence force Heavy Infantry Combat Vehicle, a bit more than halfway down:

Also on that page: Heavy All Terrain Combat Vehicle. Near the top, can be used for the colony explorer vehicle from Aliens.

Your best bet is khurasan's exterminators ( follow the links wolf gave you)

Though I would look up Ground Zero Games extensive ranges also, as he has loads of different equipped infantry plus power armour if you want.

There's also Brigade Models who have a variety of 15mm SF figures, including aliens and starship crewmen.
These chaps might do for what you are looking for:

They do vehicles and terrain items too
Gary, Glynis, and Alasdair (there are three of us, but we are too mean to have more than one login)

The Khurasan minis are quite nice.

Furuta also made a Marines vehicle too, which scales well with the 15mm minis.

I also like the 15mm QRF figs. They have Ripley and Newt too. They have an LT with a cap on. They also make face huggers and civilians. These paint up pretty nicely. They have a female smart gunner with a bandanna. Khurasan figs are nice! I just don't like that smart gun they carry at all.

Thanks.

Khurasan figs are nice!
Be warned that though I can't vouch for these troopers, I bought the nicley-sculpted KM "working class spaceship crew" (aka Sulaco crew), and they are SMALL.  Barely 15mm scale, and look like children next to a lot of other 15mm figures.  So, not so great for gaming.

Whereas my Khurasan post-apoc and modern mercenaries are pretty much 18mm!

Hmm, ok - I'll have to all this great info into consideration, thanks!

I have almost cleared enough space on my prepping station to begin cleaning and basing aliens, so the project should get started after the weekend, at the very latest (I start my five-night work period tonight, so have to sleep a lot during the days until Monday - AND the world Cup is on with Denmark participating after a long, long draught).

I understand that. I love Rebel Minis! Great owner and loads of cool figs! However, a few of their 15mm scifi fig packs (mainly aliens) are more like 12mm. I was really disappointed by this. If I had known before hand I would not have ordered them. They were also the same price as the other 15mm figs. All the Khurasan infantry I have picked up so far are in scale. He does make some great stuff!

Thanks.

John

Generally, though this is not always the case,US minis are on the smaller side ( rebel minis, splintered light, clear horizon, darkest games,  khurasan, ACP, etc )
You can find different sizes made by the same company also , e.g US based micropanzer ( his gitungi are short & fat but scale well with Gzg)

EU based ones are a mix of sizes .
GZG are good.
Most of Brigade ( are good but the ones sculpted by PF are small)
TheScene are good.
O8 are somewhat smaller.
IonAge are good though some are small ( ikwen) and some are larger ( Prang )
Nuclear Shrimp are good ( resin but solid design).
White Dragon are small ( and brittle at the ankles due to their small size & being made of resin, though their  PA are very good ).
Ex Critical Mass now RalPartha are a mix of sizes but generally good.

Good means 18mm ish & small 15mm ish. Good doesn't mean better , just easier on the eyes to paint  ;)

See here for some size comparisons.

http://castrarunis.blogspot.com/2014/01/gzg-new-nsl-size-comparisons.html

I  have tried to list as many as I could remember, hope I got them all.

You can go through my blog for many more pics.

I often mix different makes as humaniods come in different sizes.
