Slowly things are coming together. Here's my second league, "'Colonel' W.J. Oliver and his Naval 'Specialists'"

To start with, the mysterious 'Colonel' W.J. Oliver:

To answer the obvious question, the 'Colonel' is listed as a 'Follower' because he's pretty useless in a conflict, but unfortunately, as discussed in the 'Hohenzollern Guards' thread he's also in charge.

As Dave Phipps put it:

The Colonel will be mostly useless -- quite likely cowering at the back or leading hopelessly suicidal charges. Although he may be KO'd nearly every game, he'll recover in time to be sure to take credit for the victory or place blame on someone else...

Which sums the 'Colonel' up well, although he won't be leading any charges, more standing well out of danger ordering other people to do it: in his opinion, no sacrifice is too great for the glory King and Empire, and the lower orders are there to be sacrificed.

Of course if his own life is in danger, then he'll expect them to protect him at all costs. And still achieve whatever objective  he's ordered them to achieve.

In other words, he's the epitome of the boss promoted a long way beyond his or her abilities who thinks it is because of their own brilliance, or possibly someone who has inherited the wealth and position to be insulated from their mistakes.

By the way no-one is quite sure in what service of the British armed forces the 'Colonel' gained his rank, and he certainly doesn't fight much. His main contribution is money: he is the reason the Leader has the 'wealthy' skill.

Speaking of the leader:

Lt. W Gunning. I wasn't sure about making 'wealthy' one of his 'skills' but eventually I decided that combining that with the 'Gadgets' perk would give the impression the 'Colonel' was trying to make up for any deficiencies in the team by using gadgets, which may turn out less than helpful.

The Sidekick, Warrant Officer George Whitehead...

The only ally in the team. I hope I don't regret that.

Seaman Fry

Seaman Bryant

Observant readers will have noticed a distinct leaning towards brawling and fighting ability. 'Colonel' Oliver see it as him providing the brains and the Royal Navy providing the Brawn.

Yeah, right...

Cool idea for a league.

I think you have a couple slots left over? Maybe you are using those for a perk. Maybe Bastion of Science?

HAVE FUN

Really nice characterful league.

may I be so brash as to point out the slight typo on the seaman Bryant card, the fierce +1D has been applied to shoot rather than brawl  :-X

Thanks, corrected on the original now...

Yes, that'll be the one. Of course those experimental gadgets may not work as intended but this will not stop the 'Colonel' trying out the next one in the hope of it being the game changer that will allow him to reach the goal of the scenario...
