Sprue cutters any good?

Fed up with hacking my left thumb to shreds so after 40+ years of spilling blood lol it is time to get a sprue cutter are they any good?
OSHIROmodels:
Depends where from. I got a pair ‘specifically’ for Gundam kits (sold for that purpose but obviously can be used for anything). They leave a very good cut edge on the model part; still needs a bit of a clean/sand bit it’s better than all the others I’ve tried.
Argonor:
I use small diagonal cutters/cutting pliers, work just fine.

Yeah. I use these types of things (very cheap) -

The pointy end makes them able to get in close for a clean cut and they're very sharp. They're designed for jewellery making and are great for plastic. Don't use them on wire like I did with my first pair though - they're too sharp and thin and will just collect a nasty crimp where the wire went!

They're ok for use with soft metal (etched brass etc) but hard metal (eg piano wire) will leave a notch. I learnt that expensive lesson a few years ago on a good pair of Xuron cutters.
Sprue cutters are usually worthwhile, but small pieces will ping off the sprue if you aren't careful. I try to cut inside the kit box to reduce that.
