Interesting looking piece of kit.

What is the base model?

Interesting and very KV-5.  I hope R2D2 will get suitable MG armament - twin DT-28s?

I assume you have more wheels!  Oh and if it's not too late - turn the tracks around!  The drive is at the rear :D

Base kit is a Dust SSU heavy tank that I have had sitting on the shelf for years...cool looking model, but to similar to an is-3 and just too darn big.... Soooo I decided to go with the big thing and make a kv-5 looking tank...turret is scratched outa styrene and I have a 1/48 hobby boss kv-1 for a donor kit.  Unfortunately the front return roller and the rear drive sproket are identical on the dust kit, but I think the sprokets from the hobby boss kit will fit with a little fiddling.  R2d2 will be armed with some dshk 12.8 hmgs or mabey a flame thrower.  Main gun is going to be some kind of particle accelerator...anyone have any inspiring photos of Russian esque energy weapons they would like to share?

Shows the cardboard stage of the turret and the original hull a little more clearly...

Currently working on the hull...think I have all the bits and bobs figured out for the turrets and hatches and all.  I am stuck on what the main gun should look like so any help would be much appreciated!

DShKs - good call.

Use Tesla for inspiration?  I reckon some big radiators either side of the turret to cool that mess down after firing perhaps?  Some more power cable too?

As you've not done the back deck and you have the convenient turret cutout/step - how about a taller back deck to fit in the generators?

Raised back deck ala kv-5...check.  giant heat sinks and radiators on the back of the turret.... Check ( I have some Gundam greeblies stashed away somewhere).  Cables...hmmmm, I like the look of them, but I can't find a way to justify them on a combat vheicle...you'd think they would find a way to keep them from being exposed....

Good point on the cables.

Look forward to seeing the results!

Take a look at the deck plate of a tiger. Also the couplings on the crocodile.

You can always put cables in a U shaped armoured housing so you still see the cables but imply armouring.

When it comes to armour design engineering often ignores ergonomics (and common sense.) be it a fuse box you bang your head on with every bump, or the only exit in a fire being a door that's also a fuel tank.

Mark.

One of the issues I have with the Clockwork Goblin Soviet Sound cannon.
