ECW pike and shot armed highlanders
« on: June 23, 2018, 04:40:00 PM »

After having painted 90 sword  waving, lochabar axe wielding highlanders I decided to paint a unit of  'regular' pike and shot armed highlanders. It's an indulgence as they probably will represent poorer quality levy in our games and rout regularly but there you go.
The minis are a mix of Front Rank (Jacobite range but many are ok for ECW) and Bicorne.
The Bicorne pikes  are the open handed lochabar axe men. The Front Rank pikes are again Lochabar men with the cast on axe removed and pike added.
I will  select a clan banner to add to the unit at some point.

I think he mentioned they were Front Rank and Bicorne, the pike are bicorne Lochaber axe highlanders. I had thought they were cast on axes but seems they aren`t which is good

Nice work! I need to gear up my painting skill for the Jacobite KS delivery later on this year so this is very interesting

Very nice paintjob but where are the 90 highlanders?

Just had chance to photograph the clans and Irish allies this weekend. We are using Pikeman's Lament rules at the moment so they'd be fielded in units of 12 for that with odd units of 6 as forlorn hope or commanded shot but for ease of photo they  are mostly combined  in 24s.
