Italian Wars Project is Go !
« on: June 25, 2018, 04:11:00 PM »

https://yarkshiregamer.blogspot.com/2018/06/the-italian-wars-project-is-go.html

There is always a sense of achievement when the first unit for a new project is born. Will is grow and flourish into a great horde of 28mm loveliness or lie festering at the back of the cupboard with the other half forgotten ideas?

Here is a 28mm Perry Miniatures Italian Wars Pike block dressed up in the colours of the Swiss Canton of Lucerne.

Lots of pics, discussion on the figs and even a You Tube video on't blog, enjoy !

I don't know if congratulations or commiserations are in order for starting a new project lol. Best of luck in any event; I always look forward to your updates.

Hmmm... I didn't realise my GW Empire army was painted in the colours of Lucerne...

Great stuff  :)

How do complete units on large bases like that work game wise?
cheers

Very nice indeed - and reminding me I have half-completed Swiss pikes too!
Looking forward to see you progress.
Simon.

Thanks everyone,

Charlie, don't worry, more on the way  ;)

Oshiro, the unit has 6 bases, each with 8 figures. Single figure losses are recorded using small plastic counters placed at the rear of the base during game play. Once you get to 8 a base comes off and so on.

For measurement etc the front of the unit is where the 60 x 50 base would end. The rest is just to protect the pikes and people's fingers !

Ah, was looking on my phone earlier and didn't realise that there were separate bases. Thanks for clarifying  :)

Beautifull painting and very good use of different Perry miniatures. It demands respect when people go all in sizewise on Italien Wars. Cant wait to see your 48 size landsknecht units  :D

These are great - will follow this one with great interest.

I've been doing something similar with Perry plastics and assorted metals for a year or more (nothing much finished just yet) so this is very helpful to see.

Was also planning to use the old Gush WRG rules at least as a starting point. Keep us posted how your rules tweaking goes.

Very nice unit. Looking forward to the crossbowmen.

I can see that I'll be following this thread with interest.

Those look great and well done on the basing - I always hated massive pikes for that awkwardness they bring!
