They all end up being shiny as my sweat has a high acid content and eats the matt paint off  >:(

Apart from that, I think it sets and sharpens the colours, also they don't chip so much if handled.
I do it with all my figs ; WW2, Scifi, Fantasy, Moderns, Historicals. Been doing gloss varnish for over 30 years on figures but satin on vehicles.
Glad you like them should be some more pictures this weekend.

Need some help from our Swedish and Scandinavian Lafers:
Background the character is a dodgy Swedish ex henchman of Christian II, implicated in the Stockholm Massacre of 1520, traveled with the King to the Low Countries in 1523 whence he left his service and headed to Italy.
What he  needs  is a suitably swedish  name of the period ,as one of the villains in the Von T Chronicles.
Please can you help?

Here's some more the dog's owner is finally finished .
The dog is my poorly rendered Spinone Rubino (apologies to any Spinone owners on the forum) original model is meant to be a Setter or Retriever.
