Old Glory 25mm Orcs
« on: June 30, 2018, 02:36:11 PM »
I like the look of the Old Glory orcs and have seen plenty of pictures of them painted and unpainted, but never in comparison with anything else. The thing I don't know is how big they are. For the purpose I have in mind I would be happy if they are quite small, the same size as OG humans in their historical ranges.
Can anyone tell me for sure? Or perhaps suggest other manufacturers?
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

They are bigger than humans.
More like classic WFB big'uns.

Ah looks like it doesn't matter anyway because it looks like Old Glory UK doesn't stock the fantasy range.  :-[

If it's any help, I think the same designer did quite a lot of Alternative Armies' orcs.

I've got some of the "orc fanatics", which are quite large (maybe more so than the regular sorts like the "herd guard"?). There's a size comparison here, and some further shots/discussion here and here.

If the AA orcs are too big, the very similar goblins might fit the bill.

In the UK the Old Glory line of Orcs, Elves and Dwarves were sold under a "ghost Miniatures " label and can be still found in 2018 from Graham's Wuerkshoppe of Newcastle. I do not know if the shop owner takes mail orders, that is something one would need to ask them about. Expect to pay about £5 for an unopened pack of about 8 foot soldier orcs or two wolf mounted orc cavalry models.

I took comparison photos of the Old Glory/Ghost Miniatures orc models with their Citadel and Marauder counterparts, please see the attached images. In my own opinion they are a good match sizewise with the other orc models of the same age. Stylewise they are somewhere between the early 1980s Citadel and Ral Partha orcs and the more modern late 1980s Citadel and Marauder orc models.

Thanks Nordic and Hobgoblin, both useful suggestions. The Alternative Armies were unknown to me.

You never said you were interested in more Orcs. Remind me next time you are over & you can
rummage through my lead mountain, you know it has to be reduced, cuts down the risk of
avalanches.

With the size of my lead mountain, it is a surprise if I don't have something.
