Heraldry for Daaaaaaays
« on: July 02, 2018, 08:18:56 PM »
It's my first time trying blending through layering, and I obviously hate myself so I wanted to try out a harlequin pattern at the same time. I think the high shine on the fabric turned out fine, but I still need to play around with the same technique for deeper colors.

I also freehanded a Unicorn to add some breakup to the knight's chest, but it definitely came out more "Playboy Bunny" and less 'Heraldic Unicorn Head."

If anybody has any feedback or blending tips, I'd love to hear from you.

Those look terrific! I think the unicorn on the chest looks great.

One suggestion I'd have is maybe to lighten the unicorn crest on the helmet a bit - just with strokes of thin white on the obvious highlights, like the brows, the crests of the nostrils and the tops of the ears. It looks good as it stands, but it's possibly a little duller than the unicorn on the surcoat. I think a few strokes of white would bring it up to the same level of brightness.

Anyway, great work - I love that harlequin surcoat!

Great stuff!

But perhaps in a future project you can resculpt the headpiece on one of those knights to be a proper bunny. A Knight of the Bunny would be a great asset for any army. Against any naysayers, you can just say it's a tribute piece to GenCon X.
