I wondered if it would be useful to list suppliers (and anything else useful...) for those like me, starting in a new period/genre - driven by the recent Warlord WWII Coastal pre-release of course...
I'd be very interested if anyone can add to the list, which has been shamelessly stolen from these threads:
Rich H robh - includes reading suggestions.
So (assuming this might be useful to someone);

British, German, Italian, Soviet, American and Japanese.
Rules available: Cruel Seas
Mix of coastal small patrol craft (two classes per navy), larger flotilla support - minesweepers, armed trawlers etc, and merchantmen.

Same spread of nationalities as Warlord
Extensive range of coastal vessels; small craft, including variations within classes, armed trawlers, paddlesteamers, merchantmen, ferries and ships from Corvette up to Cruiser, plus submarines.
Also includes aircraft and port/harbour facilities, trains, trees and buildings.
PT Docyard 1/600 for both WWI (Splinter Fleets) and WWII coastal forces.
Major Axis and Allied navy's plus Finnish, Yuogoslav/Partisan, Roumanian, Hungarian, Polish, Dutch and Norwegian boats - pretty comprehensive then...
Rules available: Flakfighter II, White Water, Red Tide (RCW) and free downlaod of Hunters on the Shoreline/Silent Approach.
Extensive range of coastal vessels, small craft and numerous variations, larger flotilla support such as drifters and trawlers, plus escorts, minesweepers, tenders, tugs and merchantmen.
Gaming Mats - if you're after something fancy, what might be useful for northern waters at night are:
Tiny Wargames Cigar Box Ship bases/Markers.
Beyond the MDF & clear acrylic suppliers (Warbases are excellent), Im not aware of any suppliers of pre-made 'sea bases' or topedo tracks etc. in this scale.
First stop for literature for me is
ABE Books UK/European, North American, Indian and New Zealand booksellers. Great place to find anything - be aware stupid prices are driven by an algorithim, I have found this drops to something realistic after a several months of no sales...
