Upgrading TSS tiles
« on: July 06, 2018, 05:45:10 PM »
So I wanted some nice arid looking tiles to use in Indian, Mexican and Spanish type settings. In other words some arid looking tiles, this is how I went about upgrading some old TSS tiles to hopefully fit the bill.

Having some brown caulk left over I made six feet of road by spreading it over three pieces of calico.

And here are some photos of the completed tiles and roads set up for a game, I'm pleased with how they have turned out and I intend doing some more tiles to take the table to six tiles and possibly a couple of river tiles. It's also my intention to make some more terrain to sit on top of the boards  :)

Good looking battlefield.  Were the TSS tiles beyond saving or just no longer the look you wanted?

Bit battered and bruised Rob and I've been meaning to upgrade them for sometime now  :)

Good job on the refurbishment.  Though I had to do a second check to see the roads in some of the pics, maybe a little more contrast to the roads so they stand out just a bit more is in order - unless they look the part in person better than in the photos.  But only a bit more.

TBH I'm quite happy with the roads, I wanted them to be dusty tracks as opposed to good roads and I purposely painted them the same as the boards to blend them into the landscape.
I'll be doing the same with the ploughed fields soon and if I make any buildings they'll be blended in as well, it's eye of the beholder stuff again I suppose :).
Thanks for commenting chaps, I'll add to this thread I think as I do more terrain.
