Made a fun pic called "Waiting for the big ships" with what I have got so far :D

Very atmospheric and shows the potential of all what you are making! Cheers!

I signed up for the $2 a month package as I told you, and just came back to find it hasn't "stuck", so I've signed up again. Is it showing at your creator end now? Can I still get these boats?

After a month break working on my Feudal Japan series I am back to work on pirate ships!

This is what I am going for this month. I call it the gun ship. A smaller vessel - too small for cannons - yet it can be equipped with swivel guns and turn a regular fishing boat by day into a dangerous pirate raiding ship when the situation is favorable.

Here is a concept sketch I drew over a rendering of the base geometry I will use.

The mast and sails will be optional and removable to better support gaming, but I hope to design them well enough they will look great both on the gaming table and in the display shelf  :D

More to come soon!
Chris

Thank you guys!

Here is a first look at a white build prototype. I am very happy with the ship's hull geometry. The mast is still a rough prototype and needs to become less massive for this kind of vessel.

I scribbled a texturing sketch on, so you have a hint of what it should look like once finished.

I think I can now start the coloring process  :)

Great to hear Phil  :D

Here is a first look at texturing. It's not final. I want to change some minor things, add more detail to the deck and pack a whole bunch of variation layers in. But for now I am very happy how it turned out. I can start this baby coming to life  :)

Stern view

Enough room for a crew full of minis!

Once I got the hull finished, I look forward to start working on the mast/sail/ratline parts! I want to make the removable, as I feel for gaming, they would just be in the way.

It is coming out great! And besides the texturing that gives it a real look, your eye on aesthetics is superb! Keep up the good job! Cheers!

Today I can finally show you a working prototype of the removable sailing rig. For more details read my Patreon blog but in a nutshell, this is easy to build and very efficient to put together and take apart again!

I will do some minor modifications for the ratlines for this type of boat (the shown version might be a bit too much for a small vessel like this), but the general solution will make it into all future boats (sloop to galleon).

Have to add the mast boot and probably make a little top extension for adding flags but here you see how everything is sliding over the mast (or bow for the foresail) and held by "rings".

Of course - if you want to pimp up your boat - you can easily add thread lines or even replace the paper sail with a cloth one! But I am very happy that I have a pure paper solution.
