ultimate primer, its basically repackaged Badger primer
+1 for artists gesso.
Im using gesso for painting, but not for miniatures. Mainly because it doesnt have any kind of self leveling properties. It has the consistency of very thick wall paint. And what is readily available as acrylic gesso (the traditional gesso is something quite different) is kinda rubbery when dry.
That’s why I thin it.
Thanks for all the advice A friend has a bottle of the Badger primer in grey, so I borrowed that and brushed it onto a test piece. Lots of bubbles gathered in the detail of the model which I was less than pleased about, but then they all quickly disappeared as the primer was drying, left me with a good hard finish!
Go to an art shop and buy a tube of Artists Acrylic Gesso (this is actually pronounced Jesso).
