I figured this way I could put a black undercoat over everything, and then just paint what you can see and not bother what you can’t, as the black undercoat will add to the shadowy interior.  :)

Looks great, can we see it when it's painted as well please :)

Thanks chaps. I’ll certainly update once it’s got done colour on it, either on here if The Unlucky General doesn’t mind me hijacking his thread anymore, or otherwise in a separate thread?  :)

Yep it really looks the absolute real deal. Excellently done.

Your master model is massively helpful.

As Tyrianhalfman and I have discussed off-forum I'm looking as how to maximise my testudos and minimise figure usage. I have bought a stack of shields from Aventine with a view using them on my Warlord and Wargames Factory miniatures (I managed to score the latter just recently) and using the plastic spare shields for the canopies.

I was going to cast up some canopies from a master and mount them on a central block. But with the shields being oval I'm not convinced the concept has merit any more - especially seeing the above model.

My plan is to maximise the number of testudo options I have for my cohorts. Maybe not a replacement model for each but quite a few all the same. I anticipate mine will be a wargamer's compromise. It won't look as good as the above - with gaps and heads peeping out all over the place - but who knows? Maybe I'll come up with a use for all those spare Warlord heads after all?

Get painting Tom - we all want to see the end result I'm sure.

You've got to have one cheeky bugger peeking out a slightly lifted roof shield, rather like a tank commander peeping out the hatch.  :D
