GB's plastic SAGA Roman army. A new unit.
« on: July 19, 2018, 07:21:41 AM »
With one infantry box and one cavalry box I have enough models for an eight points army. The infantry box gives me five points and the cavalry three.
Here you can see the six points army I'm using at the moment and that it is giving me victories. I'm thinking of getting eight more archers to make two 12 warrior units with them...

Recipe: Army painter chainmail basecoat spray, base colours, acrylic betumen of Judea, quick lights with same base colours from waist upwards, LBM decals, spary varnish, done!

I see you've fallen for the 'image of Mary' statement from the Historia Brittonum. At the time of the fall of the Roman Empire in the West/Age of Arthur, the cult of Mary was hardly up and running as a kickstarter with Christians in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Nice figures.

I thought the infantry box was a little boring, but you've really made them shine! :)

I suspect the OP has actually fallen for the "unavoidable compulsion to get maximum value from any given Little Big Man Studios transfer set" ...  ;)

Yep, that was the idea, to deploy an army with minimum expense and painting time  :)

Nice looking force; those plastic Romans certainly are quite the effective way to create a SAGA army. I like your basing too - good variation to create a realistic looking field.

Thank you. Bases are drybrushed sand with three types of different flock on it.

I have painted a new unit. The varnish turned white where it pooled down. I had to carved it out from their faces.

The dragon standard is from the infantry box. You can notice the white varnish in the heads of horse and standard as well in the neck of the rider   :(
