Wall mounted Shadow Box Display Case kickstarter

I saw this and thought it was a cool way to showcase painted miniatures as wall art!

That is really neat!! I've got 6 of these almost full... love them... hinged front door and a place for a little lock if you want... mirrored back... hold A LOT of minis and made for the weight of those metal cars...

Very neat, but $140 EACH!

That's a whole new army!

When compared to this kickstarter with a $75 option that holds 12-15 minis or $100 for 30 minis, I think I'm coming out ahead... I've got around 120 to 150 minis per case... Now not displayed quite as cool, but its very efficient.

This one cost 50p,and has been up there for nearly a decade.

Seriously though these a piece of cake to make on a budget.

Charity shops are a good starting point.

You can find smaller ready made frames with flowers,or shells,etc..For next to nothing ,second hand of course.

Another option is get hold of a second hand picture with a reasonable frame. Ditch the picture keep the back panel frame and glass.
Then you just make a square to the depth you require using the back board as a template. (it fits the picture frame so as long as you don't go further than the edge of the backing board then the square frame you make will fit the picture frame no issues.)
In short with a quick trawl of the second hand store etc. You can DIY a decent one for $20-$30, and probably have plenty of beer tokens left over.

Mark.

I picked up some golf ball display cases from Michael’s. I cut some strips of black card stock and laid them on the shelves to cover the dimples for the balls, and they display minis quite nicely.

I think that those of us who like to build or adapt stuff ourselves might not need this. And a lot of those cheap cases aren't going to have the same sort of setting, in terms of display. A big difference between plain acrylic and a themed setting. I do think that the cases in the KS look very cool and the prices seem reasonable to me, considering what you're getting.
