I've  just finished painting a couple of units of Mycenaeans for Chariots Rampant:

I hope to give them a run against my Sea People soon. More pics on my blog:

Gorgeous painting on very nice sculpts!
Also very well chosen backdrop, must be some mountain slope in Peloponnese...

Thanks gents they're a mix of figures Eureka, Foundry, Cutting Edge, Redoubt and Old Glory. The back drop photo is actually the hill behind Mycenae. I'm trying out a solo game this afternoon with the Mycenaeans against some Sea People raiders.

Cheers

I've visited Mycenae half a dozen times and this hill looked familiar  ;)

Thanks for the encouragement gents. DintheDin half a dozen trips to Mycenae, sounds fantastic - I'm envious, I've only been to Greece once! Dozing Dragon the Bronze Age is a great period to game but sadly neglected, I have at least a dozen armies so far...

Below are a few photos of the solo game I played, the Sea People proved too strong!

Nice photos from the game with your so beautifully painted minis!

I live in Athens. The first two trips to Mycenae were done when I was in the elementary school and high school, as a kid I had not much to remember from the place besides some souvenir photos with the class.
In my mature (and over-mature lol ) years came the obsession to visit as many archaeological sites as possible, it is a shame to be living in Greece and not to know your own history...
As it concerns Minoan-Mycenean era I had the luck to visit Knossos, Phaestos in Kreta, Akrotiri in Santorini island and the Palace of Nestor, Ancient Tiryns and Mycenae in Peloponnese, many interesting things to see and enhance your knowledge about the Bronze Age.
The last four trips to Mycenae were done the recent years, when I used to go for holidays in Epidavros. It is about one hour driving distance from Mycenae so I had the joy to visit the place several times, there is a lot to see, the Treasure of Atreus (or tomb of Agamemnon), the local museum and of cource to admire the megalithic structure of the Mycenae walls.

You have so many beautiful figures, I'd like to give you some incentive for terrain:
Driving from Epidavros to Mycenae, one can find one of the most ancient bridges in Europe, made by Mycenaens!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arkadiko_Bridge

It is operative until nowadays, you can still see the traces of the ancient Mycenaean road, I had walked around and taken pictures, they are buried somewhere in a hard disk  :(

I think it is an easy to build structure and will give more spice to your terrain!
Eager to see more pics from your gaming adventures! Cheers!

...by the way, here is your name, Cyrus (ΚΥΡΟΣ) written in Linear B
(an app of the Theves Archaeological Museum)

(sorry, the app lists only names in Greek)

Thanks DintheDin for the photo of the Arkadiko Bridge, that is amazing! Thanks for the Linear B translation too :)! There is so much to see in Greece, I've been to some of those sites you mention, but have only scratched the surface.

Terrible news about all the fires around Athens at the moment. All the best.

Cheers

Thank you!
Yesterday it was a day of National Mourning. So very sad to say more.

If you come again in Athens, you should visit the National Archaeological Museum, Mycenean antiquities section

I wish you a good continuation with your collection
