Looking for more heroes!
« on: July 21, 2018, 01:22:06 PM »
Hey there everyone. Some of you may have seen my work before but for those that have not I have posted some below. The first miniature in the picture is the new King Richard the Lionheart miniature by Fireforge games. The second one is Balian Dibelin from the wargames illustrated miniatures line. These are rare epic posed miniatures in a feudal look. I love this period of time and I would love to continue taking all kinds of pictures with such miniatures. I am having a hard time finding miniatures like this. These two below I stumbled upon by coincidence but I am very hungry for more. So I would like to ask for your help. Perhaps you know of any miniatures that would make great subjects for shots like these or that would suit my collection in general. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated and would help me out a lot.

Both have already been mentioned but I'll echo Perry Miniatures and the Saga characters.  I don't like the GB line models but their more recent standard bearers and personalities have raised the bar.  Footsore Miniatures make some beautiful figures.  The majority of these are Dark Age rather than medieval but the Normans may be near enough to your preferred era.  Too old or no the Arthurian models and petty Kings are characterful figures that are a joy to paint.

Depends on the definition of ‘heroic’  :)

These are some cool suggestions.

@horridperson: Most of the miniatures you see in the first picture are actually saxons with a new shield and maybe an arm conversion. sadly the new footsore normans are quite a bit smaller than most of my and their other miniatures.

You have this also from Fireforge:

There are two prince John:

The mounted GB characters are quite stunning as mentioned above

I have seen Jean d’ Arcs, Bravehearts and Vlad Dracula out there and search also for show limited releases such as the Lionhart you see in the center of this image:

Footsore showed a teaser picture of a forthcoming William Marshall on their Facebook page not so long ago.

I've seen it and it looks very cool. I'm scared though that these are sculpted by the same guys as did the normans and that will mean they are quite a lot smaller than their other ranges.

That might be the case. I was a bit put out by the size differences between the Normans and the other dark ages ranges.

I missed the thegn in your photo.  Tricksy photo blurring kept my eye on your hero :D.  I'd never had a good look at the Normans and you guys are right.  They are pretty weedy.  I'm really surprised.

Does that mean that the Footsore Normans fit well with Perry first crusaders? That would be interesting!

On topic: I think Curteys miniatures have some interesting feudal figures. More rank and file in posture perhaps but with a headswap or two striking leader figures are possible!
