The Prisoner/Danger 5 - Triceratops 4 August
« on: July 24, 2018, 07:45:55 PM »
Just finished a batch of Villagers and 3 Moke taxis for The Prisoner.

Featured are No. 2, No. 1 (with kitty), No. 6, No. 69 (a Pigeon Guard Games Big T with Austin Powers head swap, wondering how he got so fat, not very groovy baby), various populace, and some minions.
Finally a Salute 2017 Vote for No. 6 standard bearer.

Except for the standard and two Big T conversions, the rest are Crooked Dice.

The Mini Mokes are James Bond diecasts with decals by Simon Pain - who also made the standard.

Hopefully the attachment is ok.

Village buildings are up next!

I’ll work on some group shots. That didn’t turn out so well.

It's not so bad when you embiggen the image by clicking on it, but please don't be dissuaded from adding more pics. Neat project and toys btw!

Very nice project. I've never watched The Prisoner, but through this forum, I've come to at least understand the premise of the show.

I must certainly applaud your work on the Mokes; being a huge UFO fan, I've been wanting to create two S.H.A.D.O. Jeeps for ages, and those were actually based on the Moke (with the addition of a second rear axle and properly futuristic bodywork).

There is no vehicle that comes close to that shape, so I've been contemplating getting me two of those Mokes myself, to mimic Gerry Anderson's studio crew and convert the Mokes into the 'Jeeps'.

But I've found them difficult to come by, and expensive to boot. So kudo's to you for doing up not 1 but 3 no less! 8)
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

By the way, the Mokes are James Bond diecasts marked Live or Let Die maybe? https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/James-Bond-24-Mini-Moke-Live-Let-Die-Universal-Hobbies-Excellent-Boxed/232857816859?epid=1648095040&hash=item3637684f1b%3Ag%3AeWsAAOSwaqtbSLNn&_nkw=james+bond+mini+moke&_from=R40&rt=nc&_trksid=p2380057.m4084.l1313.TR1.TRC0.A0.H0.Xjames+bond+mini.TRS0 They are cheap, under $15 if I recall. So totally doable for three!

Very nice again; the paintjobs appear spot on and that Pidgeonguard range seems like the perfect place to start. 8)

The village was also made up of half timbered houses with immaculate gardens, right? And wasn't there some sort of huge pingpong ball of doom? (like I said; I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to this show)

Thanks for the info on the Mokes; I looked at them several years ago, and then they were at least GBP30,- a piece, with mint in box ones going for nearly GBP200,-!

Now they're still around the same by the looks of it, but there are exceptions, as you mentioned. Must be another range having been released since then?

Another option, which I hadn't picked up on back then, is getting some beat up Dinky Toy army versions. They're pretty cheap; I've seen a few yesterday for as little as GBP5,- And since I'll be 'operating' on them pretty heavily, it would be a shame to cut up a pristine version anyway.

So if anything, your thread has now put me on the trail of an affordable option after all :D

Now for Foster's car... ::)

@Daethor: You mean "Rover"?

I haven't the faintest to be honest...  lol

All I went on here is a faint recollection of seeing some guy lying on the ground, being squashed by a white sphere of 3m or so in diameter. It most likely was a miniature I saw here on LAF too...

I always thought they were one of the most imaginative aspects of The Prisoner. When someone tried to escape, a white balloon would be generated (somewhere underwater out in the bay, you never saw exactly where or how) and it would float up to the surface and then race across the water to land. Then through a mixture of bouncing and skidding along sideways, it would hunt down the errant villager at speed. Once it got near them, there would be a weird guttural howl, everyone else would freeze in place (even the fountains would stop) as the wobbly white balloon would hone in on its victim. When it caught them it would squish them helplessly to the floor and you'd see their face pushing against the surface of the thing, before they were rendered unconscious. As soon as its job was done, the balloon would rapidly go skidding off again (who knows where) and all the people would start moving again. None of this was ever explained, which I thought was brilliant!
