Saga V2 FAQ
« on: July 31, 2018, 06:34:28 PM »
The FAQ for Saga V2 rules is up, you can go direct to English version via this link:

http://www.studio-tomahawk.com/dl/saga2_faq2018_en.pdf

They cover the core rulebook, the age of vikings book, and the age of crusades book.

I believe there will be one for the age of arthur book soon.

Javelins have been nerfed down, which is a good thing -they were too powerful-.

Javelins can be thrown multiple times per turn - but you only get one free shooting activation after a move now.
So you can do:
Move + shoot, shoot (fatigue), shoot (fatigue), shoot (fatigue)

What you can't do, but you could before is:
Move + shoot, Move + shoot (fatigue), Move + shoot (fatigue), Move + shoot (fatigue)

Previously charging javelins always got a +1 to hit. Now they don't if the opponent closes ranks; so that gives you the option of negating the javelin bonus as a defender. Of course javelins give no bonus when defending, and javelin armed troops are also not allowed to close ranks themselves (but that's not changed), so now you can weather the attack by closing ranks, then counter-attack in your turn.

That's a v2 thing, I presume?
I don't remember that in v1.

Yep, v2.

The rationale after the changes, according the designers, is to model the javelins as harassing weapons, rather than like the melee uber-weapon that became when v2 was published.
