Claymore 2018 Pictures(pic heavy)
« on: August 05, 2018, 07:24:09 AM »
So yesterday was the day of the Wargames show, Claymore. Hosted at Edinburgh College Granton Campus by South East Scotland Wargames Club.

My brother and myself had a fairly good day, and I even got a chance to try out the new Strontium Dog rules from Warlord Games. More over, I ACTUALLY made my first proper Games Workshop purchase in years!......Shadespire Sepulchral Guard. Cracking models, that I plan to use for 7th Voyage.

Here’s a few wee pics....

First up is Funky Skull Games/Flags of War table. They were showing off some of their new highlanders from their successful Kickstarter....

....they also had their beautiful 80’s New York table and were running participation games all day....

Next up was (I think) Kirriemuir Wargames Club game.....

I recognised some of the buildings in this one from the talented Oshiromodels(the man gets about! ;))....

I’m afraid I never caught who ran this one....

There's some good looking tables there. Good photos too.

I definitely like the New York board and funnily enough I thought the buildings in the third game looked familiar. Then I read the text! They look excellent, nice to see them on such a great set up.

Jim

As always far too busy talking to people to play a lot, but we did manage about 6 turns, which saw an Austrian gun battery routed & the Austrians assault the granary, all good fun.

This was the 1st time both buildings had been on the table together & they looked superb, can't wait for the rest of them to follow.

The last three pictures are from the Iron Brigade’s game. Well done Kevin, Emma & Peter, a first rate game I thought. A grand show all round, well worth getting to if you can.

Yeah, it was a good show. I went with a short list of things to buy and not huge expectations for some reason.

I didn't get a couple of things on my list, but spent a huge amount on things I didn't even know existed, which made for a much more fun day.

I even managed to sell some things at the Bring and Buy, although I don't think it balanced out the amount of stuff I brought home ::)

And I even got my photo taken - yep, I am lurking in one of those photos above - proving yet again that I'm not a Vampire ;D

IT was a good show, though if I can be permitted a little criticism, I thought the standard of the demo games was down a bit on previous years.

I managed to pick up a Warlord Games Hetzer Zug for £15 though, so who am I to complain!

Yeah, we always come away in recent years wishing we had put on a game. Did you notice a couple of empty tables too?

I had a great time(first convention ever!) swanning around looking at everything, also ended up buying a few things from companies where before I had decided not to as i didn't have enough to justify checkout.

Yes, I did notice empty tables, which was a shame. Never mind, I will give some thought to next year's game.
