Algeria 1830s & 1840s in 10mm
« on: August 05, 2018, 05:49:41 PM »
This is part of my overall project to collect the armies  and refight the campaigns involving François Bazaine. His career started and almost ended in Algeria

This part is almost complete - there are still some Algerian regular and tribal infantry still to paint up

Virtually all of the figures have had to be proxied as no-one makes figures for the period in 10mm

The French forces are 99% Pendraken Miniatures whilst the Algerian forces are a mix of Pendraken Miniatures and Little Wars Miniatures

The fort and the tents have been scratch-built and then cast in resin by Shaun Mutton o fDreamholme Scenics

There are a load of photos on my blog for the forces involved at http://twomarshals.blogspot.com/p/french-army-in-algeria-1840s.html and the fort at http://twomarshals.blogspot.com/p/fort-laperrine-in-10mm.html

Cracking stuff.

Always good to see the French in their red trousers.

The arabs look very good too, they look kind of flowing (if that makes sense). How well do the Little Wars figures scale with Pendraken? You say the Little Wars figures are 10-12mm sized, which would make me think they would be big against Pendraken?

Great looking project always surprised one does not see more French Colonial minis.

Here are some comparison photos of both foot and mounted

Great looking battle.
The figures look good in mass.
You don't see this period of French history played much.
Very well done.

Thanks for the comparison photos. Very useful and also shows off the figures and your painting very well.

It seems the foot mix well, but the LW horses seem quite a bit bigger.
