Austro-Hungarians
« on: August 06, 2018, 06:28:06 PM »
Started my Austro-Hungarians which I intend to build up to two platoons eventually with support weapons. Figures are from Brigade Games.

Apologies for the pictures.

Love the pike grey coloured uniforms.

Thanks for the comments all. They are actually meant to be the later feldgrau uniforms  ::) The photographs make them look lighter maybe. From what research I have done the Austrian field grey was more grey grey so I have used a standard mid grey colour (Foundry Slate Grey).

Very nice indeed.  Refreshing to see something besides the usual Western Front forces.  What rules are you basing these for ?

Bolt Action. The first picture is of a 10 man section. Both the Russians and Austro- Hungarians had 4 sections to a platoon. 4 platoons to a company and 4 companies to a battalion. So you could easily think of 4 units as companies for a battalion action.

A section at full strength I see !  A rare sight indeed, by 1916.

I am not sure if 10 is full strength? But as I said it could be thought of as a company or even a battalion. The latter would allow brigade level re-enactments as information at this size of action is more readily available.

Clever.  That way the same base can be used to represent different sized units for different rules sets.
