I didn't see anything about a gift voucher. I did, however, get a 15% discount code.

The discount codes (whether percentage as this year or fixed amount as in 2017) are always given at the very end. It's always possible that, for whatever reason, you didn't get to see the page. People have contacted us about that in the past, and we've always given them a code on good faith. Sorry if it didn't work for you.

Second, we do try not to spam. Yes, respondents can indicate that they want to subscribe to the newsletter, but it's not obligatory, nor does it influence your chances on the prize draw.

Third: purpose. Frankly, it came about because of all the firmly stated opinions on forums, at clubs and in the third half after a game. We figured we'd try to find out if the hobby really is greying (so far, doesn't really look like it), whether skirmish games are taking over, etc, etc. It's really an attempt to provide more material to talk about, maybe reassure some and yeah, if you want to take action, go ahead. Mostly, we get a lot of encouraging reactions, enthusiasm and a ton of responses. That alone makes it fun for us to keep going. Everyone likes to read about themselves, no?

Yeah, South London Warlords got a negative response on a facebook update about gaming table applications for Salute 2019. Because they had said that a shade over 50% were fantasy/sci fi compared to the slightly less Historicals, although the sci fi / fantasy also included alt-history because there wasn't a category for it.

Said person then said

I'm a historical gamer only, have no time for anything else, give it a few more years and it'll be 80 - 20 fantasy, sci-fi, other, sad indeed in my opinion

There is this sort of belief that sci fi and fantasy will 'kill' the historical side of the game, but I don't see this or feel it to be true. A survey like this at least allows us to see how accurate these beliefs are and if people are right to shun one over the other.

I think it also captures a moment in time, so useful to capture trends over periods of time too.
