British camel corps rank insignia (Sudan)

Hi all
Maybe someone can help me here.
I've seen some figures of sergeants with the chevrons painted either in red or in yellow.
Why the difference?
Did the GG sergeants also had chevrons?(over or under the letters?)
Any other details would be very much appreciated.
