Invasion 1999 part 4
«

In 1999 the UK was invaded by the Volgans. Just prior to the attack an attempt was made to capture the PM who just happened to be visiting a police station of tooled up coppers. A van filled with Volgan fifth columnists rammed the Police station gates and then assaulted the building. Luckily two of CI5s top agents were on watch outside and were able to call for military support, then engage the terrorists.
A confused firefight took place inside the station while a plucky constable pulled the PM out of a back door.
At this point the sky was filled with Volgan transport aircraft dropping the initial wave of paratroopers. The invaders deployment was decided by the time honoured tradition of throwing cardboard counters at the table and that was where the units landed. Unfortunately a Volgan unit landed opposite the police station, catching Bodie and Doyle in crossfire.
Bodie was cut down as Doyle realised he had to protect the PM. Leaping into his Capri he was able to intercept the PM and whisk her away under the noses of the Volgans to a fall back secret location. Just as British Quick reaction units were arriving.
A sharp series of engagements now took place but the Volgans just had too many troops on the ground by now. The British were defeated and either killed or captured.

It was a good game and at some point I'll get my pictures added, the Volgans did not have it all their own way as they lost a few figures too.
More games too follow.

The Volgan invasion was so sudden and overwhelming that the vast majority of British units were caught unprepared and captured. However here and there a unit was able to deploy and resist. In the second game the Volgans are carrying out a sweep through a town centre. Two large units deploy on the left and move through the open ground of the car park. While on the right another two units and a command make their moves under cover.

While crossing the open ground of the car park the Volgans are ambushed by two British fire teams and a HMG in the building opposite. Taking many casualties the survivors take cover in the warehouse however their return fire is enough to subdue the opposition. Meanwhile the troops on the right hear the firing and are even more cautious in their advance.
The command team moves to the upper floor of the comic shop hoping to see what is happening in ongoing firefight. One squad moves into the Pawn shop while the other which has skirted the firing by nipping down some back alleys take up position where they can enfilade the British. Unfortunately a fire team and sniper hidden in the building opposite catch then unprepared and more or less wipe them out. The command team is coming under increasingly heavy sniper fire, so it is quick into the APC.
Only one thing to be done now. A do or die charge into the building holding the last British fireteam.
At this point the command team are taken out as they attempt to drive past the British. This is too much for the last Volgan unit as they can't go forward or back. So they surrender.
The sniper
The SAS team who didn't do anything!

The invasion has been successful on all fronts and the majority of the country is under Volgan occupation. The British units at large have gone underground and are making hit and run strikes where they can. The scenario for this game saw an army base and arms dump under Volgan occupation. The resistance needs the weapons and ammo stored within and have sneaked up to the perimeter wall.

Some of the Brits scale the wall and engage the Volgan guards while some other have spotted a large useful truck.
They use the truck to ram the gate and then assualt the HQ building while taking out any Volgans in sight.
Meanwhile the Volgan QRF has been alerted.
Caught between the defenders of the HQ and the QRF the Brits melt away to fight another day, leaving the Weapons and ammo behind.
