Re: Renaissance army, mounted arquebus

I was really in doubt about putting some foot arquebuses on the bases. If nothing else to use the left over loading, arms from the Perry box. My decision was mostly based on roleplaying spirit. I didn´t want to make a dragoon unit, I wanted a cavalry unit.

Maybe thats why most miniature companies (if not all) don’t make their mounted arquebus in firing position. So they don’t have to make the choice.

Hi Erik,

Don't get me wrong, they look great and I'm certain that you will have a great time moving them around the tabletop.

I finally got around to posting my mounted crossbows. Half are Steelfist and the rest are Perry Light Cavalry.

Lovely painted figures and horses, although you just need to look at horses eyes.

I always get drawn to them, as a lot of people paint them like humans. Sorry it's one of my pet hates!

I paint mine black, with a little white at the rear of the eye!

There was a big thing about it in the heady ye olde days of the WAB Forum.

There was a chap on there who used to work with horses and he pretty much let us all have it (in a nice way). Apparently it's only on rare occasions that you can see the white of a horses eye- I forget when and why  o_o

We had a similar discussion months ago in another thread here (I don't remember which) and, of course, this is the way horse eyes must be painted, a good way for somebody to see how, is to Google some horse portrait paintings.

I remember that discussion, I only paint my horses eyes black.  From memory, the only time that you will see the white's of a horses eyes is when they are distressed.
