vehicles with 'bubble' wheels
« on: August 13, 2018, 08:07:16 PM »
Ok LAF hive mind, let's see what answere you can come up with for this question :)

Ainsty do their 'Silent Running' vehicle with 6 bubble wheels, but does anyone do a larger 28mm multi-wheeled vehicle (6 or more wheels) capable of holding several crew or a load of supplies?

I'm looking for something that would be compatible with Ainsty's design, suitable for use on an off-world colony, either by civilians or security forces.

Well there's Ainsty's own "sloth" crawlers:

They come in different configurations so should be useable for just about anything.

Thanks for that, I hadn't realised that Ainsty did larger vehicles or, indeed, alternative designs of their 'buggies'. These will be perfect for what I have in mind.

The HLBS Alvis Stalwart 6x6 amphibious transport might meet your needs.
There is a nice SF example here: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=91726.msg1387060#msg1387060

Empress stock HLBS, the Saracen is popular (one of the only high points of the '90s film Judge Dredd and also used by Masamune Shirow in various manga).

Empress also have their own BTR-80.

As well as LAV{LAV III.

There is also the Antenocitis Hunchback APC.

There are three or four variants.

Happy to help.  :)

I always manage to find something on their site that I'd completely forgotten they make or that I needed...

I used firetrucks from Disney's Cars line. Just some plasticard doors on the back.

Brilliant idea. My project will have obvious links to 1970/80s British low-budget science fiction, so a repurposed stalwart definately wouldn't look out of place  :D

I'm trying to avoid APCs for the moment, as they don't appear in the setting I'm using.

Thanks for all the ideas guys. I'll probably start with the Stalwart, but some of the other vehicles may make an appearance too.
