Tim in Saskatoon's Kill Team Thread (Grey Knights 22 Nov 18)
« on: August 14, 2018, 02:16:33 AM »
So I may have gone a little overboard with the Kill Team... I picked up the boxed set and the Sector Mechanicus a couple weeks ago and a Space Marine starter set, and the following week picked up the Sector Munitorum and the Astra Militarum Starter Kill Team and some Sicarian Ruststalkers/Infiltrators to add to the Adeptus Mechanicus kill team that came with the boxed set...

I thought I'd start a thread here to share all the Kill Team stuff I'm working on over the next few months.

The first thing I put together was a Tau Kill Team - using Pathfinders I'd painted up for Shadow War: Armageddon and a part of old XV-25 Stealth Suit warriors. (I post these in a separate thread, but here they are again).

Kill Team Shars'uvad

More about  these in the other thread:

or on my blog:

https://saskminigamer.blogspot.com/2018/08/tau-vx-25-stealth-armour-and-kill-team.html

This week I've finished up the first of the terrain I've accumulated over the last few weeks....

Some of the Sector Mechanicus terrain. I already had some Mechanicus terrain that I still have to build from the Imperial Knights: Renegade box I picked up earlier this year, and there was even MORE of it in the Space Marine started set - I think these two pieces might actually be the ones from the Space Marine starters set...

Detail of some of the rusty one.

Detail of the not-so-rusty one.

Assorted hatches.

Barrels and boxes from the Astra Militarum Starter box - there is twice as many as this in the Sector Munitorum box that I have yet to paint!

More about the terrain on my blog:

https://saskminigamer.blogspot.com/2018/08/sector-mechanicussector-munitorum.html

What will I have next...? I'm not sure, I'm a bit all over the place these days... I guess I should organize some of my existing forces into Kill Teams. In addition to the Tau, I could put together Eldar and harelquin Kill teams as well as Kill teams from FOUR DIFFERENT Astra Militarum regiments!? I plan to put together Kill Teams for at least one Space Marine chapter, Chaos Space Marines, Orks, Drukhari, and ADeptus Mechanicus - so stay tuned!

Thanks Guys!

I've decided to focus on the Sector Mechanicus terrain for now. I have a Ferratonic Incinerator from Sector Mechanicus Kill Zone, a Galvanic Magnavent from Imperial Knights: Renegade and a second pair of  Alchomite Stacks from Space Marine Kill Team Starter still to do (and I suppose the Galvanic Servohaulers could be used in a Sector Mechanicus Kill zone...). Once I'm done that I'll move on to finishing up the Sector Munitorum stuff, and then finally get to work on the Sector Imperialis stuff.

In the meantime, I've finished up the Thermic Plasma Conduits.

Thermic Plasma Conduits.

I've left them in relatively shorter sections so they can be set up in a variety of arrangements.

like so...

Here they are with some of my other terrain and some Skitarii Rangers for scale.

There are more pictures on my blog:

I'm playing my first game this evening, so hopefully I'll have a game report on the blog tomrrow sometime and I'll post a few of the pics here as well.

Very cool.
Dark green bluish hues are my favourite of late
Nice contrast with standard bright Tau.

Thank you all!

We finally got in our first actual game of Kill Team this week. My son, Finnegan, took on my friend "Other Tim". Orks versus Space Marines! Here are a few pics, you can find a full report on my blog:

https://saskminigamer.blogspot.com/2018/08/kill-team-first-game.html

Marines deployed!

Orks deployed!

WAAAAAAAAGGGH!

Orks dying fast. Being roasted by marines with flamers! Does something smell like someone cooking mushrooms...?

The game went three rounds and then Finnegan's Orks broke and every last one of them (or, the one's remaining!) failed morale and were shaken... at that point he called it.

Really nice work.

This is one GW game that I am having trouble resisting.

Nice report and interesting board.

Me too. The reduced board size is appealing as well.

We got in two more games over the weekend - introducing the game to a couple of the kids' friends.

First game was Orks versus Tyranids.

That's a lot of minis crammed into that little Kill Zone.

for the most part it devolved into a bit brawl in the middle of the battleground with a few shooty types taking pot shots around the flanks.

Next was Harelquins versus Heretic Astartes.

Again, lots of close combat in the centre of the table.

For full reports and loads more pics check out the report on my blog...

Monday I finally got to play a game, myself. I rolled out with some Astra Militarum and battled Finnegan's Orks. WE played the Terror Tactics scenario out of the main rulebook, in a Sector Mechanicus Kill Zone.

My Kill Team:

3 Platoon, 2nd Company, 817th Tallarn Desert Raiders
Infantry Squad Sergeant - Leader - Bolt Pistol
Special Weapon Squad Gunner - Plasma Gun
Special Weapon Squad Gunner - Veteran - Meltagun
Special Weapon Squad Gunner - Demolitions - Grenade Launcher
Infantry Squad Gunner - Sniper - Sniper Rifle
13x Infantry Squad Guardsman - Lasgun

(as this was a quick, one-off game, I didn't bother with all the fluffy names and demeanours and such... I WILL get to creating a fully fleshed out Kill Team very soon... but for the moment I just wanted to get toys on the table!)

The Red Killaz - Finnegan's Ork Kill Team
Grodnog Ripclaw - Boss Nob - Leader - Power Klaw and Slugga
Burnanza - Burnaboy - Zealot Specialist - Burna
Garg Bigfist - Ork Boy - Veteran Specialist - Shoota
Shorkarg Da Facerippa - Ork Boy - Combat Specialist - Slugga and Choppa
Ug - Boy Gunners - Big Shoota
Snikar - Boy Gunners - Big Shoota
Tuska - Boyz - Shoota
Scarbad - Boyz - Shoota
Uruk - Boyz - Shoota
Grimgutz - Boyz - Slugga and Choppa
Gizarg - Boyz - Slugga and Choppa
Zagnutz - Boyz - Slugga and Choppa
Slaza - Boyz - Slugga and Choppa
Nukk - Boyz - Slugga and Choppa

Moving the Orkboyz up.

Burnanza the Burnaboy roasting a couple of my Desert Raiders.

The remains of the Astra MIlitarum force try to complete their original mission of breaking through the Ork lines and exit off the opposite edge of the Kill Zone... too bad I failed my break test before they could get there...

There are more pictures and a full report of this action on my blog:

Finished up some more of the Sector Munitorum Kill Zone terrain...

The Shipping Containers

Should provide enough line-of-sight blocking terrain to start using this Kill Zone as well!

You’ve sorted out great minis, terrain and actually played some fun games and posted about them. An example to us all!
