Too much good stuff going on here!
The finish on the boxes is particularly good - and I really like the rather large Chaos team.

Loads of cool stuff Tim. Great to see you getting so many games in with the family.

As to making Kill Team simpler for new players, this is definitely worth doing. I've only played a few games so far, and while the core rules are fairly straight forward, each Team has special rules and then there are loads of tactics, the base ones, faction ones, specialism ones and scenario ones.

To start with I would suggest keeping each team fairly simple, 1 or 2 base stat lines, and 1 or 2 special weapons. Perhaps even drop down to 80pts to start with. Its worth keeping the special rules for Specialisms, and for Factions.

But I would suggest seriously limiting tactics for the first few games, perhaps to the 6 basic ones? These are pretty straight forward with a re-roll, and 3 go-first options, and what ever the other 2 are!!

I've built a Tau team, and pretty much every figure is different. This is hard work to start with, as you have to check loads of stuff. And while having read the special rules and tactics and thought about how I want the team to work, this is still loads of stuff to check and remember in game. Our Drukhari player just had Kabalites, with 2 special weapons, and I think the only tactic he used was re-rolls - and while he is an experience 40k player he didn't know kill team and he got on fine. Myself and the other player both had complex gangs, and I don't think we really got to grips with all the specials along with playing the game.

It's great to see your photos and all the games you play.

I hope to be able to play games with my kids (and my wife) in the future!

It's been a while since I updated this...

A few weeks ago I ran my big demo game at ToonCon (local game convention - the "TOON" is from SaskaTOON - the city it is located in - not CarTOON! So many people I mention this to think I'm going to a comic convention...)

I had four players. Most seemed pretty excited about it. We only really got through two rounds of play, but everyone seemed to have a good time and got a bit of a taste for the game.

More about the convention and the game I ran at it can be found on my blog:

http://saskminigamer.blogspot.com/2018/10/tooncon-2018.html

This past weekend I finally got a little Kill Team campaign going!

The first game was Harlequins versus Drukhari in a Deathworld-like Forest (can you even see them in there - the colours of the two teams turned out to be almost perfect camouflage for the Death World Forest terrain I painted!?)

The other game played so far was Genestealers versus Orks.

For full report of the action, with more pics and a complete background to the campaign, check out the blog post:

I finished up the  a couple of commanders and a handful of Sicarians - the last of my Mechanicus Kill Team - this weekend!

The Sicarians

The Commanders

The entire Adeptus Mechanicus force - will all options. (Way more than I could ever have in a single Kill Team!)

There are more individual pics on my blog:

I did pick up the Wall of Martyrs Kill Zone (because... I'm a bit on an idiot). I finished up the first section this past weekend...

I am curious to see how trench raising works in the 41st millennium! I think I'll need to finish up a few more sections before trying it out!

Thanks!

I under coat everything in black. For reds like this I like to do a base coat with a deep red - usually one from Army painter... Chaotic Red, I think...? Then highlight with a brighter red... a Vallejo one.. it's either 947 or 957 - to be honest some might be painted with one, and some with the other depending on which one was closet to grab on the day. That's it.

This past Friday I got in a few games of Kill Team.

First, in the afternoon, I met up with a fellow from the local 40K league at out FLGS for a couple of quick games - I brought the Genestealers and Chaos Kill Teams to battle against his Adeptus Mechanicus Kill Team.

The first game was against the Genestealers. We played the Take Prisoners scenario. I think we both ended up capturing one of the others, so it ended in a draw.

In Game Two I played the Chaos Kill team in a Terror Tactics scenario. I had to opt for a strategic withdrawal at the end of Round Four, despite being ahead 9-7 victory points, because I had to go pick up my kids from their friends...

Good fun though...

You can see a few more pictures of the games on my blog:

https://saskminigamer.blogspot.com/2018/11/friday-afternoon-kill-team.html

Later in the evening we played another round in our new campaign on Xoxigar!

My Astra Militarum finally entered the fray against Bruce's Tyranids - which have added some newly recruited (newly painted!) Tyranid Warriors and Termagants to the Kill Team this round. My Guaiacan Commandoes laid an ambush for the hated Xenos in the Deathworld forest Kill Zone.

Elsewhere the Harlequin's of the Blood Orange Ballet faced Darukk Jawbusta's Orks amid the chipping crates of the massive Munitorum facility at Haldivar Starport.

You can read about those actions (and see more pictures) here:

Monday I got in another game - this time my Astra Militarum Guaiacan Commandoes versus Amanda's Drukhari...

Fighting in the Deathworld forest (of course!)

It was a short, vicious, brutal affair.

You can read the complete after action report on my blog:

I picked up a few old metal Grey Knights from a local Bitz Exchange a couple weeks ago and was able to make a Kill Team out of them:

I Just need a Justicar to lead them (ordered one from The Troll Trader last week!)
