Japanese castle models
« on: August 18, 2018, 12:18:47 AM »
I picked up a plastic model kit of a Japanese castle at the Britcon bring and buy. I haven't figured out exactly which one it is, but it appears to be made by Doyushu and may be between 1/500-1/350 scale so 3-6mm depending on which castle it is.
I haven't seen these before so thought I would mention it. The scale is on the small side but as scenery, they are a good addition, especially for only £5.

They are generally good kits (I’ve got a few) but the problem I have, and this is of course personal, is that to have it in the table accurately you need an entire town surrounding it which never seems to happen.

Once I get the 6mm building masters done I’ll start to make a board of a castle and castle town.
cheers

As a further minor nitpick, those types of castle only appear towards the end of the period. This hasn't stopped me from getting a model of Matsumoto castle for my own 6mm Sengoku Jidai however, even though it post-dates the period I'm doing. They're iconic buildings after all.

What's really needed in 6mm scale are the wooden forts that were found all over the country. Something like a 6mm version of, oh I don't know, Oshiro's 28mm Yamashiro perhaps  ;)
