The THW stuff feels like overly elaborate 'push your luck' games.

I am going to be getting this. Enjoyed their older stuff so a streamlined version, for me, will be very welcome indeed.

I might give it a go. It would be an alternative set of rules for my Mantic Walking dead miniatures and buildings.

I've seen some amazing AARs for ATZ so it's always been of interest.  I admit I'm a bit put off by how crunchy it seemed but still would like to have a look.  This new edition sounds like they padded out the possibilities which is cool but I'm not sure what to make of abstracted movement.  I like moving models, not playing JRPG line em up games.

The crunchiness of the rules isn’t too bad after a game or two - you also have the added bonus of tweaking the rules how you see fit :) I think Ed says that you can also do away with the abstract movement if you do wish. I sound like a total fanboy  :P

This system of rules has been great for my solo gaming purposes anyhoo - I knew there was a reason to finish all those zombies!
