Afghan civilians anyone???
« on: August 23, 2018, 11:25:15 AM »
Hello all

I´m after some afghan civilians for the 2nd Afghan War but i couldnt find none except a Studio miniatures artilery crew that might suit for conversions.
I would need 2 or 3 females, 3 or 4 males and 1 or 2 children.
Both figures and ideas are welcome.

For size ideas i´m using Artizan.

Thanks for reading
Cheers

Rui

Would the Perry’s do something serviceable in their crusades range?
cheers

How about Eureka Miniatures:

This is specifically Afghan civilians but they have other Middle Eastern civilians in the same range.

The Eureka miniatures are absolutely gorgeous, but note that they are modern Afghans; there are a few items of apparel that wouldn't be appropriate for 1880.  The old bloke with the walking stick is great, as is the one with the guitar, but watch for the figures with zippers, hoodies and cell phone.

For my project, I converted a Warlord Games Celtic civilian set to get some kids and an old lady:

From this set:  https://us-store.warlordgames.com/collections/ancient-britons/products/ancient-celts-civilians

Blog entry here with some more commentary and modern Afghan civilian figures:  https://willstoysoldiers.blogspot.com/2015/12/afghanistan-people-and-terrain.html

James, my first thought was the Perrys pack of muslim civilians but they need some conversion to look like afghans. Nothing that cant be done but i´m trying to avoid that if possible.

Bogdanwaz, those Eureka are probably my best port of call. Great miniatures though a bit expensive.

Will Bailie, those are great conversions. :-* :-*
I have that pack in double for both ancient and dark ages children. :)
The Eureka ones by the look of the pictures can be converted to look like 1880´s with a little green stuff. Probably my choice. :)
Nice buildings also. ;)

Lots of useful info above, I will just pile on a bit...

RE: Perry Crusades -- I'm a big fan of their Muslim Civilians, seen here, and use them in my own Second Afghan War games:

RE: Eureka Miniatures -- they definitely have the widest variety of civilians suitable for the Second Afghan War, from their Indian and Middle-Eastern and Indian Civilians and a bunch of special character sets, including this "Indian Children Set":

..."Indian Yogi" (w/4 admirers - including 2 kids):

I also would like to share that the Studio miniatures are compatible with Artizan and that their pack of afghan artillerymen also might work as civilians with some conversion.
Nice miniatures with little to clean. :)
