According to the WTO, no deal is very likely because there is no time to negotiate so many FTAs.
Even the UK Government's Trade Secretary is estimating 60% chance of no deal, despite his boss saying it is unlikely.

This is from the Financial Times on 24th August.

Damm! I think I am going to make a big purchase in Christmas (need some stuff from Front Rank and Ebor Miniatures), to keep me supplied with minis until things clear up a bit and we know how trade with the UK will work in the future.

On a different note, there is also the matter of whether manufacturers will be able to get material to make said figures...

Some of us will quite simply lay in stocks of pewter in the event of anything crazy happening. :-)

It is a valid concern - we had to switch to a new metal supplier straight after the Brexit vote, as ours stopped trading in the UK right after that.

Along with potential tax changes, there are potentially major regulatory changes which will disrupt the supply chain, but it all depends on what, if any, deal there is. A collapse of sterling which makes stuff cheap isn't going to help if your figures are sitting in a lorry park waiting for customs clearance.

So, as suggested above, plan for potential disruption next year.

A collapse of sterling would make metal more expensive (it is a commodity and priced in US dollars) and prices would therefore have to go up to match. For example, sterling has already collapsed once because of the referendum result, and my prices have gone up accordingly - result, no saving to customers despite the now apparently attractive exchange rate. And this is the issue with any manufacturing industry in the UK that makes use of raw materials bought in from abroad: all raw materials are 20 to 25% more expensive simply because of the level to which the pound has fallen.

Good point, Ian. It's one of those things you actually only think about if you are involved in the manufacturing process.
