First game of AT-43 by Rackham - update
« on: August 26, 2018, 02:09:31 PM »
I have a rather large collection of at-43 due to buying individual "lots" of it cheap off eBay from people dumping... but I've never actually gotten to play a game of it yet until yesterday... of course I was learning the rules while playing my six year old so he didn't quite understand using small armies to learn the rules so we ended up with massive armies and didn't even get halfway through, but I really like the mechanics and the mechanisms of it and played really smooth and wasn't overly difficult. I had to basically play for my 6yr old as it was over his head, but overall a great experience.....plus having everything pre-painted is amazing because I have enough on my painting bench to last me a lifetime. I'm a huge Rackham fan as you would know if you ever journeyed over to the Fantasy forum.

It was interesting game. I got some Therians as i liked their visuals (4 leged ones are my favourite) but it died before I had chance for a game.

I've never played the rules, but I love the figures. They have such an excellent style to them, and the prepainting isn't bad at all.

How do you not love gorillas in bubble helmet space suits?

I wish they would have just produced figures and not tried the GW route.

Oh I love the Karmens... here we tried out my limited cogs army mixed with Red Blok walkers against my Karmens force... more Cogs on the way after i just scored the army box on Ebay for cheap... still need more Red Blok troops and I have no Oni... which had the cool vehicles.

I've played several games. Come to think of it I have pretty much everything released after picking up various lots online and from friends too. It's actually a very nice game system and can be played with large or small armies. For a small investment you and your son will have a lot of gaming ahead of you.

My favorite to play are ONI, but they're a little too powerful if you have all the options to play with. I like playing against Karmans but oddly don't like using them as my army. If I had to pick just army to use though I'd probably go with UNA. I really dig the Death Dealers models.

That's how I felt about buying it all. I have 3 sons actually, 2 still in diapers tho.... but between this and all the fantasy stuff I have there will be wargames galore for years and years.
