Recent Italian Wars Game
« on: September 02, 2018, 03:45:07 PM »
First post on the Lead Adventure Forum, hopefully this works as I'd had a couple fails at it.

We had a Pike and Shotte game last month using our Italian Wars figures

Been playing with toy soldiers since the mid 70s.  Not planning to grow up any time soon.

A very nice looking game with lovely miniatures.

We have had a few games of Pike and Shote our selves and I think we will go back to Hail Caesar. The fragile units and the auto disorder on 6 work fine in Black Powder where infantry moves 12 inches pr. move and cavalry 18 but in Pike and Shote it slows the game up to much and we sometimes see pike blocks being destroyed by shooting alone.

We simply have more fun when playing HC.

Cheers
Erik

Aren't they though!  Can't take credit they are my mate Curt's - and it takes some cajones to field my units on the same table.  I reckon I do a fair job (those are my infantry and gun by the villa) but his are just gorgeous.

This looks really nice. (Didn't read the report yet.)

Did you make that 'battlemat' yourself, or buy it ready like that? I think that is a good idea and might look into it myself.

Erik and Peter d, I wouldn't mind you too chatting out about the differences with PnS and HC. Is the thing Erik mentioned the main difference? (I should have the books downlodaded somewhere when they were free, but havn't hat the time to take a dip into them.)

Hoping for more, of course. :)

Thanks Anselm

The battle mat is my mate Curt's and its commercial.  I'm not sure what make it is.  I confess that I go the cheap route and got a piece  of similarly coloured felt using my quilter wifes discount at Fabricland!

I haven't done the side by side, or the 3 way including BP.  Heck I've yet to do a thorough BP vs BP2!  The general feel is the same with all three and I look things up, make them up or get them wrong as the mood strikes.
Cheers
Peter
