Blitzkrieg 1940 for Chain of Command
« on: September 02, 2018, 05:58:36 PM »
Rather jolly news for lovers of Chain of Command as we have just sent the 1940 handbook to the printer and are gearing up for a release on Monday the 17th of September.

At 124 pages in length, the book is packed with Army lists for the Germans, French, British, Belgians, Dutch and Italians; nearly sixty core army lists to select from and then a further fifty support to go with them.  The handbook has a bit of background history and a wealth of rules specific to the campaign of 1940, from Brandenburg Commandoes to glider and parachute assaults as well as five new scenarios which are ideal for 1940 but can be used throughout the war.

The 124 page Handbook is now available for advanced order with the benefit of a free PDF.  The book is currently at the printer and due to be released on the 17th of September, so if you want to take advantage of this great deal then now is the time.

You can read the full list of contents on Lard Island News, it's worth a look as I  can't possibly list them all here:

You can place an advanced order here:  https://toofatlardies.co.uk/product/chain-of-command-blitzkrieg-1940-advanced-order/

That gets you the hard copy book and a free PDF.

Oh, and here's a snap of the pretty cover.

Cheers

Rich

Great stuff!  Every ruleset that supports 1940 Dutch forces has my immediate attention.

I think I will pick this up at Crisis this year; I take it the book will be available by then? :)

I assume it will be useful even if you don't play Chain of Command.

Thanks Helen, it's been a huge task.  In the end we ignored all of the stuff on line and went back to the original period manuals and first hand accounts to get the structures right.  I'm really pleased with how it has come out.  I've ended up buying eight new armies and had some great fun with them.

It's a shame there is nothing for Norway 1940 though, I am disappointed. Hitler's audacious combined arms Norwegian adventure was every bit as much a Blitzkreig as was the low countries.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

The reason that Norway and Denmark aren't covered is because they are getting their own handbook.  I agree that they were every much a blitzkrieg, but there were also very specific circumstances and features which apply to those campaigns which are different to those of May and June.  Rather than try to shoe-horn the two quite distinct campaigns in together, we felt it important to give wesserubung it's own handbook.  Indeed it will be the next one we produce.

This should be a real winner for folks who like the early period of WW2.

Thanks again for your efforts in this book.

Oh that's made my day thanks Richard. Just for once I will be ahead of the game in my plans, I have been collecting figures and bits for Norway in 28mm for some time! I also think the Chain of Command rules will be ideal for some of the small actions.
