Rogue trader Enslaver W.I.P
« on: September 02, 2018, 10:05:08 PM »
Hi Folks :)

I recently privately commissioned a Enslaver sculpt for my Rogue trader games  and here are the first Work in progress shots in from the sculptor.

There still needs some work doing, like the two main tentacles and more detail, but I'm quite happy with what he has done :)
Its main body is 40mm tall.

I might have a small run cast up, if anyone is interested?

Interested! I've seen sculpts for several on Facebook but they never seem to come up for sale.
a mixture of quick parts, sarcastic humour, reserve, and caprice.

Thanks :)
I'll post photo's once the artist has completed the project.
Hope fully it will find its way into production.

Looks great, and in a pleasing way not too linked, visually/stylewise, to the 40K universe. I can see lots of uses for that (e.g. a Strontium Dog alien crimeboss) and would also be interested in getting one.

Not quite how I envisaged the Enslavers to look myself (I think I once saw a picture of one in some older GW publication?), but a very nice sculpt nonetheless. And it clearly conveys the image of an enslaver.

Great work! 8)

I would prefer more tentacles in relation to bulk, but that one piece of nice enslaver here man!

Yeah, there's still more to come. He's just started on the tentacles :)

Well, you cannot ask for more. From the pages of the RT rulebook:

It looks pretty accurate to me :-*. I have a hand made scratchbuilt one; even so I'm tempted of getting this one if you release some copies!!

And right you are sir. :)

I do remember this one too, in the hallowed pages of RT. But I also remember another impression, probably in White Dwarf, that looked like an enlarged, floating brain with tentacles and a small mouth. And either a multitude of small eyes, or no eyes at all. It looked like a bloated, lumpy, elongated blob, taller than wide or deep, tilted slightly backwards, and loads of tentacles on the underside.

So no 'neck' or large central eye like the RT version.

And because I saw the WD one before the RT one, that's the image which stuck with me. And even though I can't seem to find it again (I do remember it was an article about other alien threats, apart from the big ones that have their own armies), I'm afraid I like that interpretation better than the original RT one.

But this sculpt still is spot on for the RT drawing... ;)
