I made three more mud huts over the holidays.

The paint job on those huts is exceptional.  I shall use it to inspire me on my own - though commercial models rather than scratch built.  The sponge effect works well and I will use it on a variety of projects.

Could you describe, in more detail, how you make the shallow cone of your roof? Maybe provide some step-by-step pictures? Really nice look though! 👍

breakmanynecks,

thank you!

I used cardboard as the base for the roof, then added paper mache to give it the shape I wanted and finally stripes of colored paper.

I can post some step by step pictures later, but that might take some time.

Cheers,
Karl

@herr zinnling

What are the dimensions of the conical roof?
Radius (measured along roof from top point down to edge)
Diameter (measured across base)
Circumference

My guesses just eyeballing it are: R: 6cm D: 9cm C: 28cm

Pendrake, sorry for my late response.

The dimensions of the roof are: R: 7 cm / D: 12 cm / C: 38 cm

Those are great mud huts. I needed some quick for an RPG adventure and printed up some paper textures and made these:

It was a quick project, but some paper and glue and I was operational.
