Countess Casamir and her League of Capable Gentlemen
« on: September 06, 2018, 10:49:12 PM »
I wanted to make a league based on the Countess Casamir from the Pulp Figures Count Casamir's Trans-Siberian Renegades set. But, I specifically wanted to be able to make her hawk a playable character, named Bartok.

l-r Misha, the Countess with Bartok, Captain Krustache, Bartok in flight, Pasha Moustasha

First, I had to find a hawk, with wings spread, similar in size to Bartok on the Bob Murch sculpt.
I got lucky with this one from Minlam Miniatures, called: Ranger with Falcon.

The hawk's body is almost exactly the same size as the one perched on the Countess's arm, the spread wings make him look a lot larger. Also, there're a lot of textural differences. I considered smoothing the ruffled feathers with some green stuff, but decided against it.

I decided to paint all of the Countess, except for Bartok, so I could paint both Bartoks at once.

In retrospect I wish I had put a wire into the flying Bartok, it would have made him easier to handle while painting and to pin to his flight stem.

I cut the flight stem at the appropriate height for scratching an enemy's eyes out.

And, here's the final product:

Countess Casamir and her League of Capable Gentlemen

League Perks: Flyers (from Pulp Leagues)

Countess Casamir - Leader
Health: d10; Brawl: 2d8; Shoot: 3d10; Dodge: 4d10; Might: 2d8; Finesse: 3d10; Cunning: 3d10
Agile, Danger Sense, Shrewd

Misha - Sidekick
Health: d8; Brawl: 3d8; Shoot: 3d8; Dodge: 3d8; Might: 2d6; Finesse: 2d6; Cunning: 2d6
Bodyguard, Moxie

Captain Krustache of Kashgar - Ally
Health: d6; Brawl: 1d6; Shoot: 2d6; Dodge: 2d6; Might: 1d6; Finesse: 1d6; Cunning: 1d6
Daredevil

Pasha Moustasha Ali-Pasha - Ally
Health: d6; Brawl: 2d6; Shoot: 1d6; Dodge: 1d6; Might: 3d6; Finesse: 1d6; Cunning: 1d6
Mighty

Bartok - Follower
Health: d6; Brawl: 2d6; Shoot: -; Dodge: 2d6; Might: 1d6; Finesse: 1d6; Cunning: 1d6
Animal, Winged

Bartok enters play on the Countess’s arm. While perched he can only activate and do nothing. He must activate even while perched.
Once he leaves the Countess, he’s free to act as he pleases, but he may return to the Countess by going base-to-base with her.

Very nice. Clever and inventive work.
Enjoying the game is ALWAYS more important than winning the game.

Very cool idea and great execution.  Nice brush work on your figures.  Hope to see these guys feature in a game report.

Thanks everyone.
I should clarify, Bartok is not limited to doing nothing while perched, he may also move, or he’d be pretty boring, but he can’t attack, be attacked, or perform any actions.
I haven’t decided how to deal with the fact that Bartok could technically move up to 28” in a turn. First the Countess can move 12” while he’s perched, and then he could fly up to 16” on his activation.
I should also mention that when the Countess goes down he’s on his own.
